What is inside it
A composite door is built in layers: a solid timber or high-density polyurethane core, a moisture-resistant sub-frame, and a glass-reinforced plastic skin moulded with a woodgrain texture. The whole leaf is 48mm thick, roughly a third more than a standard uPVC door.
That mass is what you feel when it closes, and it is also why the door does not flex in a gale or bow in summer heat. The GRP skin is coloured through rather than painted, so a scuff does not show white.

Front door or back door: two different decisions
Front doors are chosen on security, weather performance and kerb appeal, in roughly that order. Rear doors are chosen on how much glass you want and how the room opens onto the garden. They rarely come from the same range, and there is no reason they should.
What both share is the hardware. Cylinder standard, hinge quality and the accuracy of the frame fixing decide whether a door still closes cleanly after a wet winter - and those are survey and fitting matters, not brochure matters.

Front doors are a touch decision as much as a look decision. Composite, Rockdoor and aluminium residential doors are on display in the showroom so you can feel the weight, test the locking and see the furniture finishes.
