We could cover more ground. We do not, because the thing that makes an installation good is knowing the housing stock - which estates were built with undersized lintels, which conservation officers want to see a drawing, which villages are all flint and therefore all lime mortar.

So the map stops at roughly twenty-five miles: the Vale of Aylesbury, the Chilterns, the Hertfordshire border towns and the edge of Oxfordshire. Within it, a surveyor can be with you inside a week and a fitter can come back for a five-minute adjustment without it being an expedition.
