Windows and doors in Amersham
Windows and doors in Amersham - Old Town heritage work and 1930s Metro-land housing on the Hill, fitted by an Aylesbury team.
Fitting in Amersham
Amersham is really two towns, and they need two different answers. The Old Town in the valley is genuinely historic; Amersham-on-the-Hill is largely 1920s and 1930s Metro-land, built when the railway arrived.
We work in both, and the specification changes completely between them.
Old Town and on the Hill
The Old Town along the High Street and Whielden Street is timber-framed, Georgian brick and heavily listed. Window work is heritage work - original openings, correct proportions, and often listed building consent.
Amersham-on-the-Hill is a different job. Those interwar semis and detached houses were built with leaded casements and bay windows, and the sympathetic replacement is a flush casement with the bay properly rebuilt, not a flat run of standard units. There is also plenty of later housing where composite doors, bi-folds and warm conservatory roofs are the usual work.
