Windows and doors in Aylesbury

Windows, doors and conservatories fitted across Aylesbury from our Rabans Lane showroom - Old Town terraces to Berryfields new build.

Fitting in Aylesbury

Aylesbury is home. Our showroom sits on Rabans Lane, a couple of minutes from the ring road, and we have been fitting windows and doors across the town for more than twenty-five years. There is very little of Aylesbury's housing stock we have not worked on.

That matters more than it sounds. A town this size holds four or five completely different building eras, and the right window for one of them is the wrong window for the next.

What Aylesbury is actually built from

The Old Town around Church Street, Parson's Fee and Temple Square is the oldest part - Georgian and earlier frontages, sash windows in original openings, and a conservation area that governs what you can change. Work here is measured to the original reveal, not to a standard size.

Then come the Victorian and Edwardian terraces off the High Street and around Cambridge Street, where flush casements and timber-look uPVC sit far better than a standard proud-sash unit. Bedgrove, Southcourt and Quarrendon are largely interwar and post-war semis and estates: casement territory, usually a full-house replacement with a composite front door.

Fairford Leys, Berryfields, Kingsbrook and Weedon Hill are the modern edge of the town. Those houses came with builder-standard glazing, which is often the first thing owners want upgraded - wider openings, anthracite grey frames, and bi-folds or sliders onto the garden.

Conservation areas and planning in Aylesbury

Aylesbury has several conservation areas, the Old Town being the most significant, and a number of listed buildings around Market Square and Church Street. In a conservation area, replacement windows generally need to match the original in material, opening style and sightline - which in practice means sash for sash, and flush where the original sat flush.

Everywhere else in the town, replacement windows and doors are covered by building regulations rather than planning, and we self-certify the work through FENSA. You get the certificate without applying to Buckinghamshire Council yourself.
